Andris Nelsons - Baiba Skride

Eigentlich suchte Andris Nelsons als Elfjähriger nur nach einer Musik zur Meditation – und stieß dabei auf Gustav Mahlers Erste Symphonie, die ihn mit ihrer mystischen Naturstimmung sofort begeisterte. Jetzt präsentiert der lettische Dirigent – heute einer der führenden Mahler-Interpreten unserer Zeit – den symphonischen Erstling des Komponisten mit den Berliner Philharmonikern. Außerdem hören wir Igor Strawinskys Violinkonzert. Solistin ist Baiba Skride, eine langjährige künstlerische Partnerin von Andris Nelsons.

Actually, eleven-year old Andris Nelsons was only looking for music for meditation when he came across Gustav Mahler’s First Symphony, where he was immediately enthusiastic about its mystical atmosphere of nature. Now the Latvian conductor – today one of the leading Mahler interpreters of our time – is presenting the composer’s first symphonic work with the Berliner Philharmoniker. In addition, we will hear Igor Stravinsky’s violin concerto with soloist Baiba Skride, who for many years has been one of Andris Nelsons’s artistic partners.
