Konstantin Manaev & Julia Smirnova

Konstantin Manaev (cello) & Julia Smirnova (violin) will play a Home Concert Live this coming Sunday.

In 2016, Konstantin Manaev is linked to Bach's Cello Suite #1 by incisive experience: after the memorial concert for the murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel asked him to give an encore for that very piece - much to the delight of the audience present. Born in Yekaterinburg, Konstantin Manaev first studied at the special music school of the Moscow Conservatory with Kirill Rodin, then at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, and at the Basel Music Academy with Ivan Monighetti, who contributed greatly to the development of the cellist's musical personality and power of interpretation.

Julia Smirnova has been a guest at numerous festivals, including the California International Music Festival in Engers, Germany; the Diaghilev Festival in Perm, Russia; the Encuentro de Musica y Academia in Santander, Spain; the Arosa Festival. Since 2018 she is a scholarship holder of the association Yehudi Menuhin-Live Music Now Berlin. At the beginning of next year she will play as part of the ensemble Mutter Virtuosi
